Summary

One of the best sites in Thetford forest

Location

  • TL820937
  • 52.510801, 0.680482

This is one of the best woodland sites in the county and particularly good for the elusive Hawfinch. The general area can also produce Crossbills and Firecrest, as well as a variety of the regular woodland species.

The line of alders along the river is good for Siskin and often also redpolls. The path along the stream to the east of the bridge reportedly holds Lesser Spotted Woodpecker but Willow Tit may be a thing of the past.

The car park is on the north side and gives access to the arboretum as well as Lynford Lakes further to the north of the road which can be good for wildfowl.

Target Species

Hawfinch, Crossbill and Firecrest
